Final Thoughts
Time to Go Home

All good things must come to an end...flight home was today. One benefit of staying at a hotel near the airport was not having to worry about the transfer picking you up on time, especially with an early morning flight. My connection was through Bogota, Columbia - which I vowed I would never do again due to the crazy security - but it was OK.
I arrived at the airport at 4 a.m. just before the check in counters opened up, so a long queue had already formed. Airline staff was walking up the line to ask you where your final destination was. When I told the guy I was headed to Toronto, he whisked me to the front of the line....alright! I'll take it. Through bag drop, immigration and security in just under an hour.
The flight to Bogota was uneventful. I actually fell asleep and didn't even realize we had taken off until we were in the air. I had a young couple next to me from Guelph, so it was fun chatting with them and sharing travel stories. Once to Bogota I had a few hours to kill during the layover, so it was a good time to eat and change out my SIM card back to my regular phone card. I did not want to risk changing this out on the plane - you never know what can fall and go missing.
Final Thoughts from my amazing visit to Chile:
> always had toilet paper in every public washroom - that never happens - but it did!
> movies in Spanish are interesting to watch - it helps if I have seen them before
> not always the strongest WIFI - so I am very grateful for the WIFI speed we have at home
> Chileans live a humble lifestyle, especially those that live outside the bigger cities - I appreciate all that I have
> love a good mini bar - especially with cheap prices
> 25" vs 28" suitcase - made me cut down on shopping because of lack of space - but next time, I am taking the bigger suitcase
> your phone these days is your lifeline - everything done online
> every domestic flight was on-time or arrived early - love that!!!
> dessert at breakfast - that was odd...nothing like a little cheesecake for breakfast
> airport security was very different to others - all electronics could stay in your carry on - made security a breeze - and I could keep my shoes on too
> amazing scenery
> amazing people - so very helpful
> I will definitely have to return to Chile because of all the left over pesos I have - glad I hit up that ATM for the "just in case" cash
> 6 hotel stays
> 14 days
> 5 domestic flights
> 2 international flights
> distance covered throughout Chile was 9300 km - not including Uber or distance in the rental car
> TOTAL distance covered for the entire trip = 26 525 km
Definitely lots to see in Chile. If you know me, when I travel I do not like to do things half-assed. I use my full ass!
Great trip!!!
